Chawton House Library and Winchester

Our outing this year took in two places associated with Jane Austen. Dickens’ Kent September 2012

This being the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens it seemed appropriate that the society’s annual outing was to the house that he always dreamed of owning and was his home for the last thirteen years of his life. Gad’s Hill is not normally open to the public so we were fortunate in being able to arrange a guided tour of the house for our members.
